According to legend, Marguerite du Saint Sacrement, Carmelite founder of the Famille des serviteurs de l'enfant Jésus””(Family Household of the Infant Jesus) would have prayed for Queen Anne of Austria to give a prince to the kingdom of France and had predicted the birth of Louis XIV . Therefore, the land located in the heart of The “”Les Grèves”” appellation is called “”l'Enfant Jesus'' (Infant Jesus). The Carmelites exploited this vineyard to the confiscation of church property during the Revolution. The company Bouchard, incorporated in 1731, has developed the wine trade in parallel with a trade of cloth. Upon the sale of “”national assets”” in 1791, it has acquired and operates the plot of this exceptional vineyard. Located on a particular steep and sandy soil, the Beaune Vigne Grèves de l'Enfant Jesus is distinguished by its velvety, intense and delicate at once: a wonderful marriage of fruit and spice revealing a hint of oak. Bouchard Père et Fils has benn building throughout its history one of the greatest vineyards of Burgundy , buying vineyards on the best soils. The family estate now has 130 hectares including 12 hectares of grands crus and 74 hectares of premiers crus.
