Available from Thursday 16th November 2017!
What better way to celebrate after all the hard work of the harvest than to have a party to celebrate those first wines of the year, the nouveaux?
This year the new wines will be released on Thursday 16th November 2017 and will give us a first glimpse of the character of the vintage (as well as an excuse to glug copious amounts of delicious, food-friendly juice with like-minded friends!).
This is the fifth year we propose a selection of Beaujolais Nouveau from small growers who are producing authentic, joyous Gamays by picking healthy, usually organically-grown grapes and not messing around with the juice in the cellars.
Domaine de Botheland, Rémi et Laurence Dufaitre, Beaujolais AC Nouveau 2017
Organic viticulture – Ambient yeasts fermentation – No added sulphur or Max added 2mg/l
Rémi and his wife Laurence started purchasing their first hectares of vineyards around Brouilly as early as 2006. Right from the start, the Defaitres would work the soils according to organic principles and sold their grapes to the local cooperative until they felt that the indigenous yeast populations were sufficient to make their own wine. They made their first vintage in 2010 and Jean Foillard, on tasting this maiden vintage, sought out Rémi as an obvious talent. Foillard and Jean-Claude Lapalu took the Dufaitres under their wing and the evolution of the original Beaujolais ‘Gang of Four/Five’ looks to be set for an exciting new generation of talent. The Beaujolais Nouveau is fermented in concrete and the style is one of finesse and pure perfume.
