TOUR DES GENDRES, Cotes de Bergerac 'La Gloire de mon Père'

This ripe, structured wine is a fine reflection of this outstanding vintage. Firm tannins are still very present, contrasting with the elegant black-currant and berry flavours. The wine has both weight and style. 92 Points Roger Voss - Wine Enthusiast

"The big brother of the Bergerac classique, I am wary of recommending a wine such as this - it doesn`t have the boom factor that many look for in wine. It does have impeccably balanced, soft, lush red fruits, fully mature now, and would make perfect drinking with many plainer red or white meats. No new oak, no huge extraction, no boom boom factor. Just elegance, perfect balance and velvet soft fruit." JOHN WILSON, Irish Times

Gloire de mon Père is a blend of 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Malbec, 10% Cabernet Franc. Malolactic fermentation takes place in oak barrels (50% new), no filtering, no fining. The nose is intense and powerful – black fruit, dark chocolate, anisee with flowery notes. Generous and ripe on the palate, the layers of sweet, juicy fruit are supported by a firm but balanced tannic structure.

"Gloire de mon Pere is a creamy, tissue-soft red of lingering depth and presence" A. Jefford

TOUR DES GENDRES, Ribagnac Biodynamic
Luc de Conti is a wonderful character and one of the finest wine-maker of his generation, he feels passionately for his wines, his 54-ha vineyard and his Bergerac region.
Luc is looking for purity and intensity in his wines, relentlessly searching to reach the maximum potential of each vintage.
Viticulture is biodymanic, the soil is nourished with seaweed and silica treatments to encourage microbial activity. Yields are low, 5 to 6 grapes per vine, manual picking and selection of ripe and healthy grapes is essential; on the top cuvées there are several ‘tris’ in the vineyard, and the wine will only be released if it reaches the highest of standards. The blends will also change according to the physiological ripeness of the grapes.
In recent vintages, Luc’s wines are losing in extraction and gaining in tension, balance and tend to drink younger.
