‘Ruby-red with a garnet rim. Delicate sour red cherry and tar aromas are complemented by a subtle earthiness and lifted by an herbal perfume. More earth and red fruit flavours follow on the palate, accompanied by chewy tannins. A finishing note of black pepper and firm acidity gives this a lean mouth feel and heightens its tannic bite. AZIENDA AGRICOLA CEUSO, Alcamo
Azienda Agricola Ceuso is a 30 hectares estate (of which 22 are cultivated to vines on limestone and clay soils) started by three brothers – Antonino, Giuseppe, and Vincenzo Melia – who had careers as a farmer, oenologist, and agronomist respectively before they created Ceuso in 1990.
The estate is located in the hills between the communes of Salemi and Trapani.
The Scurati is a 100% Nero d’Avola, fermented in stainless steel and aged in cement vats to preserve the expressive dark cherry fruit, earthiness and mocha flavours.
