This estate was officially born in 2002, when Domaine Lucien Boillot was split between brothers Louis and Pierre. Louis inherited 7 ha of vineyards in both Côtes de Nuits and Côte de Beaune and has recently moved his cellar with his wife Ghislaine Barthod in Chambolle-Musigny. The consistency of Louis’s range is quite impressive; his wines are whistle-clean, deeply-flavoured and elegant Burgundies.
“Since 2005 Louis Boillot has been no less consistent than his wife, Ghislaine Barthod, which is a high, high compliment in my book.” Allen Meadow, Burghound.com
The Côte de Nuits-Villages is a lovely Burgundy with pronounced aromas of raspberry with vanilla and oak hints. Juicy red berries, sweet cherries lifted by a streak of acidity and finely grained tannins linger on the palate. This wine would be ideal with roast wild duck or pork loin in a creamy, mushroom sauce.
