DOMAINE OLIVIER LEFLAIVE frères, Puligny-Montrachet
Brothers of Anne-Claude Leflaive, Olivier and Patrick run this estate with 12 ha of vineyards in the best climates of the Côte de Beaune. The wines, made in collaboration with in-house oenologist Franck Grux, are intense, purely defined with intelligent use of oak. In addition, they source grapes and must from a handful of dedicated growers.
Today, Olivier spends his time between his winery and greeting visitors to his “Table d’Olivier Leflaive” restaurant and guest house located in the heart of Puligny village.
Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Truffières is situated high up on the slope just below the hamlet of Blagny. As the name suggests this vineyard was once a truffle-bed and now the wines it produces are equally sought after. Here the nose is wonderfully pure, expressive and elegant with a touch of oak toast adding nuance to the largely floral and citrus aromas that lead to classy, pure and cool medium-bodied flavours that are refined, focused and intense. This is really a lovely effort brimming with minerality though it doesn’t quite have the sheer depth of material of the grands crus but this isn’t far off either.
