Domaine Mosse Chenin Blanc is a Vin de France which shows wild honey, fleshy apricots, quince paste and woodspice followed by nutty aromas and layer after layer of rich flavour. This is is a very serious chenin with impeccable balance.
The fruit come from young selection massale Chenin vines planted in 2001 on clay and gravel soils alternating with schist.
The very low yielding grapes are harvested by hand followed by a rigourous selection (tri).
Fermented in vat then transferred into large barrels where malolactic takes place. The wine spends a further year in them before bottling.
Domaine Mosse, St Lambert du Lattay, Organic, Natural
Founded in 1999 by René and Agnès Mosse, the 15-ha (organic since 1999) estate has parcels in St Lambert, Beaulieu sur Layon and Savennieres. The wines are made with native yeasts, no additives and and very low intervention. Long elevage follow in large old oak barrels and foudres.
Today the estate has been taken over by René and Agnès two sons, Sylvestre and Joseph. Both brothers worked few seasons in wine bars including Chateaubriand and Aux deux Amis in Paris and Terroirs in London. They continue producing very fine natural wines
