Château Bois de Rolland 'Vieilles Vignes' 2018 - Bordeaux Supérieur

€18,95

'Perfumed nose, violets, oaky spices, cassis. Some graphite on the palate, ripe black fruits & raspberry licorice. Plush, round incredibly easy drinking, lots of vanillin. Modern Bordeaux, instantly appealing' Colm Douglas, Le Caveau

Château Bois de Rolland 'Vieilles Vignes' is a Bordeaux Superieur that tastes really honest, made with care, with a definite sense of place. When Bordeaux are made that way, they are quite irresistible. Gorgeous black fruit, meaty hints on the nose, very subtle oak presence, perfectly integrated, ripe, fleshy on the palate with cool undertones which adds to its drinkability and saline touches in the end.  90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon

The property has a wonderful history and pedigree. Situated just 17 kilometres from Saint Emilion on the Coubeyrac plateau of clay and limestone – the blend that helps to express some of the best wines in Bordeaux. The property became renowned for its vines, cereal production, and cattle rearing. Now just a winery, the perfect exposure of a plateau with south-facing vines upon ancient sedimentary soils allow the Geromin family to produce fabulous wines.

The first and second generations of the Geromin family laboured these soils, putting in back-breaking hours of work to produce a fabulous expression of this wonderful terroir. They have now passed the baton to their two daughters. Audrey the eldest who learned her trade at La Tour Blanche is now the winemaker, while her younger sister Marion is responsible for the distribution. Marion gained her experience in distribution in Kuala Lumpur and worked in the Ribera del Duero region for 3 years. The property is certified HVE (Haute Valeure Environementale) Level 3.
