Salamandre rouge is 100% Syrah and is unoaked. A purple-red in colour. Notes of black cherries, black pepper and smoke on the nose. Full-bodied and ripe on the palate with a bright acidity and medium tannins leading to a juicy finish. Try with duck breast with a beetroot risotto, venison bourguignon or braised rabbit.
Saint-Cyrgues' vineyards are located near the village of St-Gilles, along the southern slopes of the Costières de Nîmes which has a history of vine cultivation dating back centuries. The domiane is owned and run along organic lines by Jean-Pierre Lefaud and son Loic who took over from previous owner Guy de Mercurio in 2015.
The soils are a mixture of rounded pudding stones, flint and gravel and were formed during prehistoric times by alluvial sediments from the Durance and Rhone rivers.
