A box of Paints 2024 is a bright, juicy Barbera, with pronounced red and black berries aromas, earthy touches and soft tannins.
In 2024 Jack’s small Nebbiolo vineyard was hit by mildew and no harvest was made. Brothers Matteo and Davide offered Jack some Barbera grapes, from their own organic vineyard.
After a short 10-day soakage, the wine was pressed and transferred into a cement tank where fermentation finished. No additives were used during winemaking and a tiny amount of SO2 was added at bottling. Around 1,000 bottles were made, 240 of which are available in Ireland.
IL VINO MALROTTI, Jack and Serena Crotty, Govone - Piemonte
Jack and Serena Crotty own 300 Nebbiolo vines, located literally in their back garden. Jack hails from Cork, he was behind NeighbourFood online farmer markets and the Rocketman in Cork City. He now lives in Govone, Piemonte with his wife Serena and their two daughters.
Vinification takes place with the help of brothers Matteo and Davide of Casa Tallone, a tiny winery working with natural methods, from their 2-ha organic vineyards.
